Three Top Tails Step-by-Step
Do you really need a good reason for a ponytail? A perfect look for a cocktail party or dress down couture – they also keep you cool and an extra day or two out of a blow-out,. Here are three effortless looks that start with dry hair and require NO precise blowout!
LOW & MESSY
- Spritz hair all over with a salt spray and scrunch it upward with your hands.
- Bulk up texture by blasting your hair with a blow dryer for about a minute.
- Finger comb hair into a slightly loose ponytail and anchor with an elastic.
- Take a half-inch section of the tail, wrap it around the elastic and pin underneath.
- For added roughness spritz the tail with texturizing spray and scrunch one more time.
HIGH & SLEEK
- Apply a light smoothing cream and tightly brush hair into a high ponytail at the level of your temples.
- Camouflage your hair elastic with a 1/2-inch of the tail, wrapped around the base and pinned in place.
- To smooth fly-aways and lock in style, mist the head (not the tail) with a light finishing spray.
- For a runway-sleek tail, go over small sections of the hair with a flat iron, until completely smooth and shiny.
VOLUMINOUS
- For a quick lift and body, apply a texture spray from roots to mid-shaft.
- Wrap big sections of hair around a 1-inch curling iron, winding away from the face.
- Starting about 3-inches down the hair shaft, tease hair toward the scalp with a boar-bristle brush. Smooth a layer of the crown over the teased portion.
- Part hair to your liking and brush the sides back and down, gathering all the hair into a low ponytail. Secure with elastic and mist with a light-hold spray.
