#transformationtuesday….No more Ombré

On September 1, 2015 by Corey Powell

This adorable girl Val Pina  comes in with 8 inch dark re growth and the rest of it is over bleached. She shows me some pix of she wants pretty hair now, said she did the pink, blue, purple and grays, now she wants sexy pretty natural looking hair. Val spent the afternoon with my team and I at Sally Hershberger LA, filling, smudging, toning, low-lighting, Balayage highlighting, thank god for Brizilian BondBuilder 3R and Olaplex.. Looks pretty damn sexy for the first go around for color correction.  What you think!

#TransitionTuesday with Azure Parsons

On August 11, 2015 by Corey Powell

My client @azureparsons was very brunette for #astronautswivesclub on #ABC. So we decided to go very #blonde!  She’s so fearless when it comes to #color, she’s been every color you can imagine for different characters. It allows a lot fun and creativity in my job! #transitiontuesdays #kingofblonde #masterofmakeovers

#MakeoverMonday Featuring Georgia Connick

On May 18, 2015 by Corey Powell

Georgia ConnickI recently had the pleasure of working with Georgia Connick, daughter of Harry Connick Jr., who came in and told me that she needed something new to brighten up her style. Georgia’s mother, Jill who is also a client of mine, told her daughter that if she wanted to go lighter/blonde that she had to see Corey Powell, ‘The King of Blonde.”

Her hair was light brunette to begin with, so I hand painted and balayaged some highlights throughout to create a beautiful blonde look with depth and texture. As you can see in the photo, the highlights brighten up her whole face, and now here eyes really pop! It’s a great look on Georgia for summer.

This look is great if your hair is on the darker side and you want to go lighter for the warmer months, without changing your look too drastically. I love her new look!

2 Colors 1 Face

On September 23, 2014 by Corey Powell

Part of my job as a colorist working on celebrities and their forever changing looks is making sure that no matter what the demand of the look for a role is it should always still look flattering. Whether you go from light to dark, dark to light, and anywhere in between the hair should still look natural on the actor for a “as close to real life” effect. Here is a dual look on my client Alexandra Daddario from the hit show “True Detective” with light hair for her role on the show, then darker richer brunette for real life. key focal points for determining the right tones for both were her beautiful big blue eyes.
