I received a 911 call from Ms. Murphy herself “HELP, I need my color done for a photoshoot in New York.” Knowing the secret formula to her radiant red color, I replied: “of course I will squeeze you in today.” Be sure to find out some of her other secrets in Elle Magazine’s July issue, sponsored by Secret.
My client @azureparsons was very brunette for #astronautswivesclub on #ABC. So we decided to go very #blonde! She’s so fearless when it comes to #color, she’s been every color you can imagine for different characters. It allows a lot fun and creativity in my job! #transitiontuesdays #kingofblonde #masterofmakeovers
Susan has been a longtime client. I usually paint some Balayage highlights creating a natural beige-y blonde. This time, we decided to create a warmer, golden, strawberry blonde. Using #Inoa by #Loreal professional then painting a few Balayage highlights adding #olaplex for healthy hair. Sometimes just little change, slight adjustment, creates amazing results, what do you think?
True Detective star Michelle Monaghan did an amazing cover spread for Nuvo Magazine’s summer issue. She’s got the leading female role in the new Sony film, Pixels. I did balayage highlights for this look. Here’s a breakdown of her style:
My client, the beautiful Beth Behrs plays Caroline Channing on 2 Broke Girls. I love working with her.
When we meet up, I do a blonde on blonde – smudging her base to make her a little lighter then her natural color. Then, I paint some balayage highlights. Last season we #lobbed her hair off with a side bang. As of recently she’s been growing her bangs out.
It’s good to mix it up, change it. She looks fabulous nomatter her hairstyle. As you can see in the photos, her color really accentuates her beautiful face, skin, and eyes, making everything pop!
Roxy came in recently looking to brighten up her look. Her mother, Julia Sorkin says I’m the #KingofBlonde. So I did my magic with two multi-tonal techniques – balayge highlights, and created a halo of light.
The summer’s hottest trend is going lighter and looking natural. In my most recent video, we balayaged graphic designer and model, Blanda Eggenschwiler just in time for the warmer weather
What makes Balayage unique versus traditional color techniques? For starters, the hairdresser doesn’t use any foil to create the highlighted look. The technique is more freehand and specialized and requires practice. Luckily for all you #HairJunkies out there, I use the balayage technique all the time, which is unusual considering the trend has only recently come over from the UK this season. But I will say all the A-Listers are coming in just for this treatment.
Balayage means ‘to sweep’ or ‘paint’ in french, which is exactly what I did with Blanda. You can see in the video we worked on numerous sections of the hair, weaving in highlights that are less noticeable than what we’re used to seeing. As your grows out with balayage color, the roots are less noticeable, leaving more of a sun kissed, natural look.
Personally, my favorite aspect of balayage is that it truly looks effortless. Instead of looking like someone who spends hours in the salon, you look like you just finished spending hours of time on the beach. #HairTip: Ask your hairdresser to match the best color to work into your hair based on your skin tone. So not only will you have the hottest trend of the summer, but it will enhance your skin too.
The look of balayage is timeless, low-maintenance, and will cost you less money in terms how often you’ll need to go in for a color touchup.
Whether you’re blonde, brunette, redhead, or have some crazy purple dye job, you can balayage any color to change things up.
This week’s #MakeoverMonday is the definition of makeover. My client, Virginia, an art school teacher, sought me out because she loves Margot Robbie’s hair color.
As you can see in the before shot, her hair was nowhere near Margot’s or anywhere near blonde. We brainstormed a bit and upon finishing the consultation, decided to take it a step farther than Margot’s look— bleach and tone it! What a transformation.
Virginia looks like a whole new woman! Not only does the color change up her entire look, but it’s sexy, fun and edgy. The added texture she has from bleaching it will also allow her to try out all different kinds of short, fun styles.
Although an overall bleached look like Virginia’s requires consistent upkeep, the right techniques (like toning) and proper every day care will keep your hair looking bright and healthy.
