#transformationtuesday….No more Ombré

On September 1, 2015 by Corey Powell

This adorable girl Val Pina  comes in with 8 inch dark re growth and the rest of it is over bleached. She shows me some pix of she wants pretty hair now, said she did the pink, blue, purple and grays, now she wants sexy pretty natural looking hair. Val spent the afternoon with my team and I at Sally Hershberger LA, filling, smudging, toning, low-lighting, Balayage highlighting, thank god for Brizilian BondBuilder 3R and Olaplex.. Looks pretty damn sexy for the first go around for color correction.  What you think!

Michelle Monaghan for Nuvo Magazine

True Detective star Michelle Monaghan did an amazing cover spread for Nuvo Magazine’s summer issue. She’s got the leading female role in the new Sony film, Pixels. I did balayage highlights for this look. Here’s a breakdown of her style:

#MakeoverMonday with Kayslee Collins

On May 11, 2015 by Corey Powell

Kayslee Collins had an important meeting to attend for a job and came in to see me to have the pink removed from her hair and bring her back to her natural color, blonde. We removed as much of the pink as possible in one day without compromising the integrity of her hair. We had her come in the following day to add some balayage highlights and lowlights to create some contrast. Kayslee has beautiful hair and is such a beautiful girl! She is stunning as a natural blonde, do you agree? Leave comments below!

Michelle Monaghan for FAULT

On May 4, 2015 by Corey Powell
My client Michelle Monaghan looking fantastic in her photo shoot for FAULT Magazine. I had just taken her blonde down a few shades, making her hair look more natural and sun-kissed. I added balayage highlights using Solaris bleach and Olaplex to keep the hair in amazing condition.

Fall Hair – Rich Tones

On October 24, 2014 by Corey Powell

Brunette hair can sometimes use a little sprucing up especially on women with beautiful blue eyes. In this case funny gal Rachel Dratch (SNL, Parks and Recreations) came in to give her hair a little punch for her upcoming new TV series pilot.

First, richening up her base to add a little warmth was a must. Having drabby brown hair when you are very fair skinned toned can actually age you, by adding a slight red or gold tone to the color you can actually give your skin more vibrancy and complement your eyes – which in this case my focal point was her beautiful blue eyes.

Second, adding a few highlights to the hair for an added texture and movement can help you color not look one dimensional but more naturally sun kissed.  Which in Rachel’s case it helped to soften the whole color.

Beth Behrs New Shorter blonder look

On October 20, 2014 by Corey Powell

Change is definitely in the hair this Fall and I always love seeing my celebrity clients rocking their new do’s in some very happy faces. In this case I recently took “2 Broke Girls” star Beth Behrs to the blonder side with a beautiful tone on tone blonde with just a few painted highlights to help add some dimension. Finally, we went for a more dramatic shorter lob-style haircut with a sexy side swept bang instead of her usual heavy fringe she recently had.

Here’s a before picture of her with longer hair and an after taken on set with her co-star Kat Dennings with the guest appearance of Kim Kardashian.

VVV Magazine: Noomi Rapace

On October 5, 2014 by Corey Powell

See this amazing before and after transformation on usually brunette actress Noomi Rapace for the cover of VVV Magazine. I took her super blonde and to a very sexy champagne tone that complimented her shimmery skin tone. This was a pretty big dramatic change for the “Promethius” actress that not only took some time to achieve, but also required some major skills to get her hair light enough to then tint to a champagne hue with very little damage.

Michelle Monaghan: The Best of Me

On September 29, 2014 by Corey Powell

Take a look at my most recent work on Michelle Monaghan‘s hair for her upcoming film “The Best of Me”. Like I mentioned in the past, I take many things into consideration when changing an actor’s hair color for a role. In this case Michelle’s hair was previously very reddish brown and the job required a more neutral/natural brown hue with light, soft, painted highlights for that “as close to real life” look that transmits perfectly on the big screen.

I hope you all get to see this beautiful love inspiring film.
